Why We Built Look Up Gear: A New Home for Climbing & Height Safety Equipment in Australia
After more than 35 years working in the chainsaw, arboriculture, and height safety industries, I’ve seen a lot of change.
I’ve seen new equipment and technology transform the way people work in trees and at height. I’ve watched the arboriculture industry grow, and I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some incredible people who have helped shape it.
But one thing hasn’t changed: when you’re working at height, having the right gear matters.
That’s where the idea for Look Up Gear began.
Built from experience.
Look Up Gear has been built by the same team behind CSP Distribution. For years, CSPD has been supplying rope access professionals and climbing equipment retailers across Australia with equipment from some of the biggest and most trusted brands in the industry.
We know that buying climbing and height safety equipment isn’t just about finding a product and putting it in a box. You need to be able to rely on the equipment. You need access to the right information. You need a supplier who understands what you're using it for. And when you need something, you need to know it’s going to be there.
That’s the standard we’ve always tried to bring to CSP Distribution, and it’s the standard we’re bringing to Look Up Gear.

Look Up Gear has been created to bring a broad range of arboriculture, tree climbing and height safety equipment together in one place.
We’ll be offering products from many of the brands we know and trust through our work at CSP Distribution, including Marlow, At Height UK, Marlow Ropes and SIP Protection, alongside brands such as Petzl, Climbing Technology, Teufelberger and more.
Whether you’re looking for climbing equipment, ropes, PPE, harnesses, helmets, accessories or height safety gear, our aim is to make finding the right equipment as straightforward as possible.
We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. We’re focused on doing one thing well: providing reliable equipment for people who work at height.
More than just a gear store.
For me, one of the most important parts of building Look Up Gear has been making sure it stays connected to the industry it serves. I’ve spent plenty of weekends at tree climbing competitions, volunteered my time, supported events and watched young arborists develop their skills and careers. That community is a big part of why Look Up Gear exists.
We want the store to be somewhere people can come to find good equipment, but also somewhere they know there are people behind it who understand the industry.
We know that sometimes you need to ask a question before you buy something. Sometimes you’re not sure which piece of equipment is right for the job. Sometimes you just want to speak to someone who knows what they’re talking about.
Customer service and reliability are at the heart of what we’re building.
Looking up.
The name Look Up Gear came from something pretty simple. If you work in arboriculture, you spend a lot of time looking up.
You look up into the canopy. You look up at the next anchor point. You look up at the job ahead.
But there’s another reason I like the name.
We want Look Up Gear to represent a positive direction for the industry. Looking forward, continuing to improve, and making sure people have access to the equipment and knowledge they need to do their jobs safely.
Launching a new business is always a big undertaking, but this one feels particularly important because it brings together so much of what we’ve been doing for years.
The experience of the CSP Distribution team. The relationships we’ve built with manufacturers and customers. Our understanding of the arboriculture and height safety industries. And, most importantly, our belief that people deserve reliable equipment and reliable service.

Look Up Gear officially launched on the 5th of October 2026, and we’re excited to finally open the digital doors to our store.
